This Is Not Forgiveness, I also didn’t like this book as it was quite confusing too!

Socks Are Not Enough, my favourite boom out of the lot, a funny story line and easy to read, ages 8 onwards to 14.

I really hope that my favourite book wins the competition!

The competition is being held at my school, Roedean School

let the skyfall, when it crumbles…

fyiOn Tuesday night I went to see Skyfall with my mum and dad. It was brilliant. we were hoping to get to an earlier performance but we hadn’t booked. If we wanted to see that performance we would have had to sit in all different places in the cinema.

We booked it for 7:30 and went out for dinner before. The giggling squid.

Skyfall is the first bond movie I have watched and starts with an ultra cool beginning. I was a little dubious to what it would be like but then i got into it. You never got bored and there was always someone either getting shot or being threatened to be shot. Exciting! The programme time is 2:45 so it is quite a long film, but the advertisements go on for 30 minutes.

I went to see Skyfall again with my friends 2 days after. I loved it just as much although I really wanted to tell them what happened but I had to restrain myself.

please go and see the film! I want it for christmas!!

FYI- i know own Skyfall for real!!!!

Herman the Cake!

What an odd name for a cake, and it proved to be quite an odd recipe too. Herman is a cake which already has a batter when someone gives it to you. There is a set of instruction included when the person hands Herman over. This is a brief guide line of what you have to do each day. Herman is a sourdough cake so it contains yeast. Each day it rises more and more and on certain days you have to add more ingredients to the mix. It is kind of like a chain cake. Each time someone makes the mix, they split it in 4. They keep 1 batch and give the rest away. they then cook their batch and the cycle starts over again from the person they handed it over too.

Day 1: you get Herman and put him in a large mixing bowl and cover him loosely with a tea towel

Day 2: Stir well

Day 3: Stir well

Day 4: Herman is hungry! add 1 cup of flour, milk and sugar. stir well

Day 5: Stir well

Day 6: Stir well

Day 7: Stir well

Day 8: Stir well

Day 9: Stir well

Day 10: Herman is hungry again! Add the same as day 2 and stir well. Divide into 4 equal portions and give 3 away to friends, along with a copy of these instructions. Keep the 4th portion.

Day 11: Herman is very hungry! stir well, and add the following:

1 cup sugar

2 cups plain flour

2 heaped tp. baking powder

half tsp. salt

2 heaped tsp. cinnamon

1 cup raisins

half cup chopped walnuts (optional)

2 cooking apples chopped into chunks

2 3rd cup if cooking oil

2 tsp. vanilla essence

2 eggs

Mix everything together, out in a large tin (greased) sprinkle with a quarter cup of melted butter and a quarter cup of brown sugar. Bake for 45 minutes at 180 degrees. When cold, cut into finger pieces.

Cake freezes well and is also delicious warm.

Haven’t actually tasted the recipe yet but it seems a very good cake from people who passed it on.

Mixture does rise quite high so use a big deep bowl and mixture will get on tea towel so don’t use your favourite.Photo taken after cake was cooked!
